What is Branding?

Branding is a marketing strategy where a company wants people to recognize their logo and associate it with specific thoughts or ideas.  As an example, Nike has the Nike swoosh logo.  People recognize the swoosh brand and associate it with athletic prowess.

How can branding be profitable for your business?

Branding CAN be profitable for your business if used properly.  First realize that branding is not a “call to action” form or advertising.  You don’t use branding in order to get people to buy.  You use branding in order to:

  1. shape what people think about your business and
  2. to be front of mind, keeping people thinking about your business.

This means branding costs money but it’s not always easy to associate it with specifically generated income.

Branding is profitable for your business when you control what people think about your company and can make them think positively about your business.
